Saves the Day is an emo/indie rock band from Trenton, New Jersey, known for its punk roots. Saves the Day formed in 1997. Using mid-ninties influences such as Lifetime as their main influences, the band, along with the help of Chris Conley's lyrical writing ability, shot into the indie rock scene with Can't Slow Down released on Equal Vision Records. They continued to produce steady hits of power ballads and poppy anthems until the Stay What You Are album, during which many longtime fans believe that drugs became an influence on the direction of Conley and the band. The band is currently continuing to experiment with a softer, more melodic sound that has disappointed many of its long-time fans for deviating from the cherished rock anthems of Saves the Day's previous albums.
